Kangxi Wucai Porcelain Chocolate Pot

Chinese late 17th century porcelain chocolate pot made in the reign of the Emperor Kangxi for export to Europe

Painted in green and yellow enamels with 'burnt orange' overglaze paint to show dense peony decoration typical decoration of the time. The small size of the pot is also typical of the early Chocolate pot that was needed in the new leisure activity of drinking chocolate socially.
The off set handle is always associated with chocolate drinking
Overall good. the knoop on top of the lid has been re attached no overspray
Around the base of the spout there are stresses in the glaze causing lines in the glaze
